– The Chowan Men's Lacrosse team rallied but was unable to take the lead as Lions dealt the Hawks their seventh straight defeat on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action. THE BASICS FINAL | Chowan 17, Emmanuel (Ga.) 22 RECORDS | Chowan 1-7 (0-2), Emmanuel (Ga.) 2-5 (1-0) LOCATION | Murfreesboro, N.C. (Hawks Field) INSIDE THE BOXSCORE Noah Holloway tallied a team-high nine points with five goals and four assists in the loss. Alex Clabaugh recorded four goals and two assists. Jason Jenkins II and Patrick Egan posted a hat-trick. Sean Bates went 16-34 at the face-off spot with six ground balls. HOW IT HAPPENED First Quarter: After an early goal by Emmanuel, Chowan countered with three straight unassisted goals. Patrick Egan started the scoring followed by Jason Jenkins II and Jaxon Martin. The Lions answered with six unanswered goals to lead 7-3. Austin Lee scored off a Noah Holloway helper to end the run. Emmanuel found the back of the net before the buzzer to lead 8-4. Second Quarter: Patrick Egan put the Hawks on the board in the quarter with a goal off the pass from Noah Holloway. Holloway also found the net off a dish from Alex Clabaugh to cut the deficit to 8-6. Emmanuel answered with four of the next five goals to lead 12-7. Noah Holloway scored an unassisted tally. Alex Clabaugh scored unassisted as Emmanuel led 13-8 at the break. Third Quarter: Chowan would cut the deficit to one, 13-12, as Jason Jenkins II scored twice to open the frame. Alex Clabaugh added an assist and a goal during the stretch. Noah Holloway scored and added a helper to trim the deficit. Noah Holloway and Alex Clabaugh kept the contest close trailing 16-14 heading into the fourth quarter. Fourth Quarter: The Lions would push their advantage to 18-14 before Alex Clabaugh found the back of the net on a Patrick Egan assist. Egan scored off a Jason Jenkins pass to trim the deficit to 19-16. Emmanuel added two insurance goals to take the victory as Noah Holloway's score with 2:04 remaining was unable to complete the comeback. UP NEXT Chowan hosts Barton on Saturday, March 23 in a Conference Carolinas contest. Opening face-off is at 1pm.
