Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Lacrosse celebrated the careers of its four seniors Sunday but could not come away with a win as the Pack fell to Colorado Mesa University 20-10 at Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium. Weston Bartgis (Sr., El Cajon, Calif.) scored three goals in his final career home game. Bartgis also celebrated his senior day with two assists. He wrapped up the regular season with a career-high 40 points and 25 goals. Caleb Cole (Fr., Houston, Texas) matched Bartgis with five points. Cole scored a goal and dished out four assists. His four helpers matched a career-high. He caused two turnovers. Tyler Reed (So., Sacramento, Calif.) fired in three goals on three shots.. The hat trick was Reed's third of the season. All three of his goals came in the second half. Tommy Vassallo (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) potted his seventh hat trick of the season. Vassallo chipped in an assist. He has a career-high 30 goals in 2019. Vassallo now has at least one point in every game this season. Anthony Ferrie (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) collected two assists in his Senior Day game. Skylar Weathers (Fr., Ogden, Utah) passed out an assist. Luke Wade (So., Castle Rock, Colo.) caused a career-high three turnovers. Jacob Muir (Fr., Ogden, Utah) led the Pack with five goals. The Mavericks scored the game's first two goals. Vassallo and Bartgis netted goals of their own to tie the game at two. Six minutes later the Mavericks broke the tie with a man up goal. Cole fired in a goal of his own to tie the game at three with 1:18 left in the first. Colorado Mesa added a goal in the final minute of the first to lead 4-3 after one. In the second quarter, the Mavericks took over. They held the Pack scoreless while adding four goals of their own to take an 8-3 lead at the half. Colorado Mesa also scored the first five goals of the second half to take a 13-3 lead. They held Pack scoreless for 26 consecutive minutes. Reed ended the Pack's drought with a goal 10 minutes in the third quarter. He added one more goal before the end of the quarter but the Pack still trailed 15-5 after three. Bartgis scored the first goal of the fourth, but the Mavericks answered with five consecutive goals to make it 20-6. The Pack scored the final four goals of the game, but the Pack would still fall 20-10. Despite the loss the Pack still set a school record with seven wins in 2019. They finished 2-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play and will be the No. 3 seed in the upcoming RMAC Tournament, their highest seed ever. The ThunderWolves and Mavericks will meet again Friday in Salt Lake City. The opening faceoff of the Pack's first round matchup in the RMAC Tournament will start at 2 p.m.
