The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team stepped out of conference play Thursday night and came away with a 16-12 victory at Davis & Elkins. The Bobcats improve their 2019 record to 3-4 with the victory. As the final score would indicate, there was not a whole lot of separation between the Bobcats and Senators in Thursday's contest. The difference in the game came in the second and fourth quarters. Lees-McRae outscored Davis & Elkins a combined 7-2 in those two frames compared to being knotted up 9-9 in the first and third quarters. Another key factor in Lees-McRae's victory was winning 21 of the 31 face-offs in the contest. The Bobcats racked up 22 points in Thursday's victory that came from eight different players. Alec Molander tallied five of these 22 points with three goals and two assists. Jonathan Barry led Lees-McRae netting four goals in the win. Jake Leath, Ethan Knight and Jackson Galloway each netted a pair of goals, while Craig Barr, Landon Barrow and Matt Clary also netted single goals Thursday. Cameron Castle improved his record in goal to 3-4 on the season after making seven saves in 19 tries in the contest. Lees-McRae will have a quick turnaround as it will head to Barton College on Saturday for a Conference Carolinas contest. First face-off between the Bobcats and Bulldogs is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
