Despite a pair of record-setting performances from Mitchell Cody and Coleman Jacobs, the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team fell to North Greenville 15-10 on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops ERAU to 4-2, while the Crusaders improve to 1-4. Cody tallied a program-record six points in the game with a hat trick and three assists, while Jacobs scored four goals to tie the program record, which he had already tied earlier this season. Mark Urso was 14-of-28 in faceoffs and collected a game-high 10 ground balls, while Lucas Fraser made six saves in goal for ERAU. The Eagles started slowly, allowing NGU to take a 5-0 lead after the first quarter of play. Cody got the Blue and Gold on the board less than a minute into the second, scoring his first of three goals to make it 5-1. The Crusader lead grew to 7-1 before Cody and Jacobs each tallied late goals to close the gap to 7-3 at the half. Gavin Madden scored 2:23 into the second half to make it 7-4, with Kyle Dalrymple netting a man-up goal just 34 seconds later to cut the deficit to 7-5. At the 10:16 mark, Cody scored his third goal, marking ERAU's fifth straight score which made it a one-goal game at 7-6. The Crusaders were able to bounce back, clamping down defensively to keep the Eagles off the board for the rest of the period, while also scoring four goals to gain some breathing room with an 11-6 lead. Jacobs got his second of the game 54 seconds into the final quarter and he proceeded to score ERAU's next two goals as well, giving him four for the game. Unfortunately for Embry-Riddle, NGU also scored four times during that span, giving the Crusaders a 15-9 lead. Michael Forte scored the game's final goal with 2:58 left, accounting for the 15-10 final score. Embry-Riddle returns home for its next contest, a date with Georgian Court on Tuesday, March 5. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
