Highlighted by another dominant first half, the eighth-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team tallied a 16-5 victory over Georgian Court on Sunday. The win puts the Setters' record at 3-0 this season, including 2-0 at home. The Blue and Gold completely controlled the action across the opening 30 minutes en route to gaining an 11-1 lead at halftime. The Setters put together a clean sheet in the first quarter, recording the first six goals of the game. After the Lions scored their first tally early in the second, Pace finished the half with five-straight goals. Defensively, it was another terrific performance from freshman keeper Louis Ragusa (Ossining, NY/Yorktown) to lead the way. Ragusa racked up a season-high 16 stops on the way to posting a save percentage of 0.762. Pace's attack was piloted by a trio of four-goal scorers on Sunday. Bradley Paterson (Caldwell, NJ/Depaul Catholic), Joseph Diggle (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and Connor Vercruysse (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) each found the back of the net four times. The trio also combined for four assists. Daniel Keenan (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) put together a solid stat line of two goals and an assist, while Wyatt Barfoot (Georgian Bluffs, Ontario/St. Mary's) and Matthew also chipped in tallies. In other keys to the win, Steven Weindler (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham Wading River) picked up nine ground balls and Daniel Lewis (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) caused a team-best four turnovers. As a team, Pace earned a 34-22 edge in ground balls and a 15-9 advantage in face-off wins. In two home wins so far in 2019, the Setters have outscored their opponents by 39-16 margin (26-1in the first half). Up Next The Setters are back home during the mid-week, hosting NYIT on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
