ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (3-0) men's lacrosse team defeated University of Scranton (1-2), 14-3 in non-conference action from RIT's Turf Field Sunday afternoon. RIT held a 52-17 shot advantage. Ground balls were 49-27 in favor of the Tigers, who cleared the ball 19-of-21 times. Scranton won 10-of-18 draws, while both teams failed to score a man-up goal. Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy) led RIT with seven points on three goals and four assists. Chad Levick (Newmarket, Ontario/Huron Heights Secondary) added five points on four goals and an assist, while Cam Isaac (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Brendan MacDonald (Georgetown, ON/Trinity-Pawling) each had two goals. Braden Wallace (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park) tallied a goal and two assists, while Beau Riley (Homer, NY/Homer) scored once and added an assist. Dave Shuster (Columbus, OH/St. Charles Prep) also scored, while Chris Brown (Homer, NY/Homer) and Kyle Killen (Peterborough, ON/Crestwood Secondary High School) added an assist apiece. Jimmy Spillane (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) won seven face-offs, and Eli Salama (Coquitlam, British Columbia/Dr. Charles Best) had five ground balls. The RIT defense was in control all afternoon, forcing 24 of Scranton's 34 turnovers. JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) and Patrick Hannigan (Hanover, MA/Hanover) led the Tigers with three caused turnovers apiece. Nick Nesbitt (Burlington, Ontario/Salisbuury School) got the win in net for RIT, making four saves. Jon Berg (Chester, NJ/Mendham) played the final 21 minutes and played three saves. Scranton's Jeff Sabatini allowed 12 goals on 21 shots over the first 37:51, while Alex Malecki made eight saves over the final 22:09. RIT led 5-1 after the first quarter and 7-1 at the half. The Tigers tacked on seven goals in the third quarter, while allowing just two goals in the second half. RIT returns to action, beginning Liberty League play on Saturday, March 11 when the Tigers host No. 14 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 1 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
