Salve Regina scored six of the game's seven goals during a span of the second and third quarters and the host Seahawks posted a 10-8 win over Clark University in non-league men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Gaudet Field. Game Information Score: Salve Regina 10, Clark University 8 Records: Salve Regina 2-0; Clark University 1-1 Location: Gaudet Field, Middletown, R.I. Three Stars of the Game 1 – Salve Regina junior Andrew Fera (Cranston, R.I.) - scored twice. 2 – Clark sophomore Brandon King (Eastham, Mass.) - scored three times, including twice in the fourth quarter to help lead a late rally by the Cougars. 3 – Salve Regina junior Matt D'Amore (Duxbury, Mass.) - stopped 16 of 24 shots to improve to 2-0 in net this season. Key Stat of the Game: After falling behind 4-2 the Seahawks went on a 8-2 scoring run, and wound up doubling up the Cougars the remainder of the way. How It Happened: The Cougars scored 42 seconds into the second half as Will Mandracchia (Melrose, Mass.) found the back of net with help from Isaac Bass (Amherst, Mass.), giving the Scarlet and White a 5-4 edge. Salve Regina responded by getting goals from Fera and defenseman Mike Sheehan (Wading River, N.Y.) to take their first lead, 6-5. Eric Backus (Mansfield, Mass.) then converted on the man-up with just over five minutes left in the third, then Fera fired in his second of the day, also on the man-up. Matt Heeter (Wading River, N.Y.) cashed in midway through the fourth to cap a 5-0 scoring run, giving the Seahawks their largest lead of the day, 10-5. Trailing 10-6 with three minutes to play, Bass scored on a long drive that trickled in, then King added his third of the day 17 seconds later and suddenly it was a two-score game with 2:44 left to play. The Seahawks won the ensuing faceoff however and were able to play enough keep away and run out the remaining time, holding on late for the second straight game to improve to 2-0. Drew Riopelle-Tyrell (Northville, Mich.) made several sensational stops in between the pipes for the Cougars to keep the game closer, stopping eight of 15 shots in the loss. Mandracchia finished with a game-best five points (two goals, three assists), while freshmen Quincy Milton III (Seattle, Wash.) and Chris Rasco (Huntington, N.Y.) had markers for the Scarlet and White.
