The No. 18 Saint Leo Lions unloaded a 16-8 final over the No. 10 Lindenwood Lions on Saturday. The offensive surge was fueled by senior attacker Charlie Kurtenbach who put up seven points scoring four goals and three assists in the national upset. Daniel Sparks also had a big day scoring a hat-trick, tallying his season game-high in goals and points. The road victory improves Saint Leo's overall record to 5-3 while moving the Lindenwood Lions season mark to 6-2. Down 3-2 with four minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Saint Leo offense went on a four-goal run to snag a 6-3 advantage over Lindenwood. The run featured a goal from Daniel Sparks assisted by Charlie Kurtenbach, an unassisted goal by Philip Buque and a pair of unassisted goals by Kurtenbach. Lindenwood fought back in the second quarter edging Saint Leo 3-2 for a halftime score of 8-6, in the favor of the Green and Gold. The third quarter was quiet as each team tallied a single goal (9-7). The Saint Leo offense unloaded seven goals in the fourth quarter to ensure the nationally-ranked upset victory. The Green and Gold showcased a three-goal run followed by a four-goal run after Lindenwood netted their last goal of the game. As a unit, the Saint Leo Lions out-shot the Lindenwood Lions 37-31 while placed 24 of the 37 shots on goal. Meanwhile, Lindenwood put only 14 of their 31 takes on frame. On the other end of the field, goalkeeper Thomas Tatarian earned six saves and four ground balls improving his record in between the pipes to 3-2. Jordan Williams won the Faceoff battle going 19-26 on the 'X.' He also earned a game-high 15 ground balls. Thomas Tatarian earned the 'W' in the cage while earing six saves and four ground balls. Beyond the Boxscore Philip Buque and Charlie Kurtenbach have scored in every game so far this season. Kurtenbach now leads the Lions offense with 40 points (25g, 15a) followed by Buque with 33 points (24g, 9a).
