Stockton scored three times in the third quarter to break a 7-all deadlock at the break and defeat McDaniel 11-10 in the men's lacrosse season opener for both teams on Saturday. Chase Hartman (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) led the Green Terror (0-1) with a hat trick in the opener. Tommy Gallo paced the Ospreys (1-0) with four goals and an assist. Stockton jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Gallo and Brandon Nunez in the game's first 4:30. Hartman finished a feed from Troy Becker (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) to cut the deficit in half with 7:22 showing in the first quarter. Nunez pushed the lead back to two just 51 seconds later before Cooper Archambault (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) scored with 35 seconds remaining in the period. Timothy McNichol (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) finished an immediate pass right off the Zach Bicho (Millstone, N.J./The Hun School of Princeton) faceoff win to tie the game just six seconds later. Archambault converted on a man-up opportunity to give the hosts a 5-4 edge just 2:19 into the second quarter. After Mike Caposella and Hartman traded tallies a minute apart, the Ospreys reeled off three straight to open up a 7-5 advantage. Jackson Reilly (Churchton, Md./Southern) finished a solo run with 2:32 showing and Jared Payne (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) added an unassisted tally with 1:39 to play in the opening half, drawing the hosts even once again. Nunez put Stockton back in front just 12 seconds into the third quarter before Hartman completed his three-goal day with 12:12 remaining to tie the game at 8-all. Gallo tallied twice in the final 11:15 of the period to make it a 10-8 game before Reilly made it a one-goal game once again with 12:52 to play. A Nunez man-up tally with 2:43 showing pushed the lead back to two. Sam Mutz (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) set the final margin with 51 ticks remaining. McDaniel finished with a 39-27 advantage in shots and Bicho won 10 of his 20 faceoff attempts. Will Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) picked up four ground balls.
