The NYIT men's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaker on Wednesday night. Molloy topped the Bears, 9-8, in sudden death on Michael Scheuerer's overtime goal. It marked the Lions' first-ever win against NYIT in 21 meetings between the programs. NYIT lost its eighth straight game to drop to 2-12 overall and 0-3 in the East Coast Conference. Matthew Greaves and Dan Lembo did score their first collegiate goals in the defeat. In fact, Greaves' goal had given NYIT a 4-0 lead early in the second quarter, although Molloy followed with five unanswered goals. NYIT had taken an 8-7 lead on Michael Trainor's goal with 12 minutes, 41 seconds remaining in regulation. However, Molloy forced the extra period with the equalizer from Jack Egan with 5:05 remaining in the fourth quarter. NYIT will look to get on track when it hosts District of Columbia on Saturday at noon at President's Stadium.
