The Binghamton women's lacrosse team fell 15-7 to Cornell Tuesday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game, which witnessed a snow delay prior to the second half of play, moves the Bearcats to 6-8 overall on the season. "We needed to be better at the little things today and we let that get away from us," head coach Stephanie Allen said. "I thought we responded well in the second half in some areas of play but failed to capitalize offensively in the manner we needed. We will look forward to getting back after it and regrouping as he head into another conference matchup this weekend." In an even first 12 minutes of play, Cornell and Binghamton went 5-4 for goals, respectively. Senior Brianne Arthur scored the Bearcats first two goals of the game, assisted on her second by senior Jacqueline Kennedy. Trailing the Big Red 3-2, Kennedy then switched roles to net her first of the game, tying the score for the first and only time of the game. Cornell finished the first half with four more goals to Binghamton's one, as Arthur assisted freshman Paige Volkmann at 8:25 to bring BU's score to four. The Big Red took a 7-4 lead into halftime. After a flurry of snow ensued a snow delay, Binghamton and Cornell traded the first four goals of the second half. Cornell found the net just a minute and a half into play before Kennedy answered with her second goal. Senior Tiffany Ryan answered the second Big Red goal of the half, unassisted for her first of the game. Trailing 9-6 with 16:40 left to play, Arthur marked the score sheet once more for the Bearcats, scoring her third of the day on only four shots. Unfortunately, a dominant Cornell offense closed out the second half with six goals of their own, taking a 15-7 win over Binghamton. Arthur finished the day with three goals and one assist for four points, going 2-2 in free positions. Kennedy registered four ground balls and four draw controls in today's contest, also adding two goals and one assist to her stat sheet. Junior Rebecca Golderman secured a team-high five draw controls in the contest. Next up, Binghamton travels to UMass Lowell on Saturday, April 21 for an America East conference matchup. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start time.
