Behind a record-breaking 13-point performance by Kailey Conry, the Boston University women's lacrosse team registered throttled crosstown rival Harvard, 20-16, Wednesday night at Nickerson Field. Inside Conry's Historic Night Conry finished the night with a career-high five goals and matched a career-high with eight assists. Danielle Etrasco '13 held the previous mark with 12 points, coming on eight goals and four assists, against Ohio State on March 16, 2013. Her 13 points are the most by any player a single game in the NCAA this season. Additionally, her eight assists put her in a three-way tie for second-most in a single game this season. The sophomore fell one point shy of tying the Patriot League single-game points record. Jill Altshuler set the mark with 13 against West Chester on May 7, 1996. How It Happened Harvard struck first one minute into the game, though Kelly Mathews responded at the 23-minute mark to knot the score. The crosstown rivals exchanged goals, as Emily Vervlied and Kailey Conry put the score at 3-3 with 17:30 left in the half. Avery Donahoe gave the Terriers their first lead of the night, dodging towards the center of the crease before firing a wrap-around shot into the back of the net. The scoring continued to go back-and-forth as the Crimson tied the contest twice to sandwich a free position goal by Kelly Mathews. Conry put the Terriers back ahead and Ryann Gaffney intercepted a clear attempt and fired into an open net to give BU its first two-goal lead, 7-5, with 10:18 remaining in the first. Following a response from the Crimson, BU stroked another 2-0 run led by Ava Barry and Conry. Harvard had the final goal of the half, though the Terriers held the upper hand at 9-7. Kaitlin Belval opened the second half with back-to-back free position goals before darting in a feed from Conry to give BU a 12-7 advantage with 26:34 left. The Crimson spurted a 2-0 run until Lexi Lewis and Ava Barry snapped back-to-back scores to put BU back on top by five. Belval and Conry each picked up their fourth scores of the night, extending the lead to 16-10. Conry played a hand in the next three points to set the single-game point mark, while Donahoe netted BU's 20th goal of the night to put the game out of reach.
