The Aurora University men's lacrosse team lost their 2020 home opener on Thursday afternoon 14-9 to John Carroll University in a non-conference spring break match-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AU came out firing and took a 3-0 lead on goals from Jameson Morrison, Zach Bernstein and Kellen Moczynski.
- Late in the first quarter, a run of 10 consecutive penalties called on the Spartans began.
- The time in the box began to wear down the Spartans who would lead 3-2 after one quarter.
- AU was out-scored 7-0 in the second quarter and trailed 9-3 going to halftime.
- The teams came out in the third quarter with no scoring over the first five minutes.
- A pair of goals from Jameson Morrison at 9:56 and 8:40 pulled the Spartans to down 9-5.
- JCU responded with the next five goals and led 14-5.
- Moczynski and Morrison scored even strength goals to give AU some energy midway through the fourth.
- Late in the fourth, a nearly three quarter penalty drought ended as AU went to back to back man-up situations.
- Morrison and Braden Toll buried shots and AU was down 14-9 with just over two minutes to go.
- The final score would end up 14-9 in an AU defeat.
