Senior Hannah Powers and freshman Livy Rosenzweig contributed seven points apiece, while junior Hannah Savage tacked on six in an 18-6 win over Bucknell at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium Wednesday night. Rosenzweig led all players with a personal-best five goals and added two assists, while Powers had three goals and four assists, and Savage tacked on three goals and three assists. Junior Taylor VanThof led all players with nine draw controls and added two goals and one assist. Senior Katrina Geiger, junior Amanda Ignacio, sophomore Holly Lloyd, freshman Bridget Ballard and freshman Sam Fiedler rounded out the scoring with one goal each for Loyola (11-3 overall, 7-0 Patriot League). For Bucknell (3-11, 1-6), Sarah Galzerano and Audrey Walsh both finished with two goals. Even though the Greyhounds’ defense forced Bucknell into two shot clock violations to start the game, the Bison were still the first to score, as they netted consecutive goals at 22:52 and 21:35. Fiedler got the Greyhounds on the board at 20:12 and Powers assisted Rosenzweig at 19:38 to even the game at two. Powers then assisted Ballard and finished a feed from Rosenzweig to get Loyola a 4-2 advantage. The Bison answered with consecutive goals to even the score at 4-4 by the 13:09 mark, but that would be all the Greyhounds would allow as the defense shutout Bucknell for the remainder of the half. Savage secured the lead for the Greyhounds with a goal at the 12:43 mark, followed by a goal from VanThof at 11:24. Powers, who had a hand in six of Loyola’s first eight goals, connected with Savage for back-to-back Greyhound goals and VanThof’s goal at 1:14, assisted by Rosenzweig, sent Loyola into the halftime break with a 9-4 advantage. Savage started the second half scoring with the Greyhounds’ sixth-straight goal, but the Bison halted the streak at the 25:55 mark. Rosenzweig got the goal back, at 21:04, but Bucknell again had an answer, snapping freshman Kaitlyn Larsson’s personal shutout streak at 66 minutes (she entered at the 25:55) with a goal at the 15:14 mark. That would again be all that the defense would allow though, as Rosenzweig contributed three of the game’s final goals and Powers, Geiger, Ignacio and Lloyd tacked on one each to bring the final score to 18-6. Kristen Yanchoris led the defense with two ground balls and three caused turnovers, while junior Kady Glynn, Savage, Geiger and Larsson all collected three ground balls. In addition to VanThof’s nine draw controls, Rosenzweig won six and Powers finished with three, as Loyola held a 19-6 advantage over Bucknell in the statistical category. Powers also caused a career-high five caused turnovers, helping Loyola break 10 of Bucknell's 26 clear attempts. The Greyhounds will remain on the road for the second of three-straight games as they travel to Colgate Saturday for a noon start.
