LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Courtney Henig recorded six goals and three assists, including four straight goals in a decisive second-half stretch, to lead Lehigh to a 13-10 victory over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League women's lacrosse action at Graham Field. Julia Bradbury matched her career high with three goals, and Jamisen DeWitt notched 11 saves in her Senior Day game to help the Bison stay in it after the Mountain Hawks jumped out to a fast start. Lehigh (7-8, 3-5 PL) scored on six straight shots, all coming in the first 8:16 of the contest, to race out to a 6-1 lead. Kellie Gough scored the first three goals, and Henig scored twice and assisted on two others in that run. But with DeWitt making a handful of tough saves, the Bison defense tightened up and held Lehigh to just one more goal over the final 21 minutes of the half. That proved big when Bradbury, Audrey Walsh and Kate Fiore all scored in succession to to make it a 7-5 game at halftime. Bucknell (4-12, 2-6 PL) twice pulled within one goal in the second half and had potential tying shots turned aside by Lehigh goalie Samantha Sagi, who finished with 12 saves. Kali Peeples ripped home a high shot just 1:42 into the second half to make it a 7-6 game. DeWitt made a great save on Sondra Dickey on a semi breakaway to keep it a one-goal game, but then Sagi returned the favor with a point-blank stop on Morgan Steinhacker at the other end. Dickey gave Lehigh an 8-6 lead with an unassisted tally, but only 13 seconds later it was Bradbury with a quick response, splitting two defenders for her second goal of the day. Peeples ran down the ensuing draw control and the Bison ran a nice play to get Audrey Walsh an open look, but again Sagi was up to the challenge. Henig scored from a sharp angle with 10 seconds left on the shot clock to make it a 9-7 game, and after Eve Calabria rang a shot off the pipe, it was Henig again for Lehigh, this time on a free-position shot with three seconds left on the shot clock. Two more Henig tallies made it a 12-7 margin with 8:00 to play, but the Bison had one last push. Walsh scored a quick-stick goal off a feed from Lillie Hunt. Tace Sutherland won the following draw, passed ahead to Calabria, who then found Sutherland cutting to the cage to make it two goals in 15 seconds. But Lehigh stopped the bleeding by winning the draw, and after a timeout, Dickey buried her 48th goal of the season to make it 13-9 with 4:33 to go. The Bison added one more on Bradbury's free-position shot with 1:23 left, but they turned the ball over after winning the draw, and Lehigh was able to melt away the remaining time. In addition to Bradbury's hat trick, Walsh scored twice, Calabria and Tegan Warren both had a goal and an assist, and Lillie Hunt handed out two assists for the Bison. Peeples finished with a team-high four draw controls, and Sophia Klaber led the squad with three caused turnovers. Dickey tallied eight draw controls and five ground balls for Lehigh, which finished with a 32-29 shot advantage. Both teams collected 16 ground balls, and Lehigh had a slim 13-12 edge at the draw circle. Prior to the game, the team paid tribute to its three seniors -- Jamisen DeWitt, Callie DeWitt and Audrey Walsh -- who were playing in their final career home game. Bucknell wraps up the 2019 season on the road on Thursday at Army West Point at 6 p.m.
