Beginning the final week of the regular season, the 15th-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team (4-6, 4-5 NE10) earned a 13-8 win at Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon. The Setters flipped an early 4-1 deficit, putting together a 4-1 stretch of their own to enter halftime all square. Another 4-1 run from Pace to start the second half opened up a 9-6 lead. After consecutive goals brought Assumption within a goal late in the third quarter, Pace's defense didn't allow another tally across the final 18:35 of regulation. In turn, the Blue and Gold scored the final two goals of the third quarter prior to shutting out Assumption, 2-0, in the fourth. It was another diverse effort for the visitors as four different Setters registered multiple goals. Pace's attack was also extremely unselfish. The Blue and Gold's 10 assists in the game marked their second highest total of the season. Jake Veres (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) and Alan Singleton (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Pierrefonds Comprehensive) each notched a team-best four points on three goals and an assist, while Blake Balcaen (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) led the Setters with three assists. Aidan Egazarian (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) and Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke) also chipped in multiple goals in the victory. Defensively, it was once again Daniel Lewis (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) leading the way. The graduate student recorded a team-high three caused turnovers, to go along with four ground balls. As a team, Pace put together a 16-3 edge in caused turnovers. Lewis' classmate Bryce Clark (Rumson, N.J./Rums Fair-Haven Regional) also nabbed four ground balls, while going 10-for-16 in face-off matchups. Junior goalkeeper Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) continued his terrific campaign with another double-digit save performance. The 2019 NE10 Rookie of the Year posted 10 stops in a complete-game effort. Up Next The Setters will wrap up their regular season on Saturday (April 24) when they host AIC at noon.
