ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team rolled past Moravian, 25-5, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in league play, while the Greyhounds fall to 7-4 on the season and 3-2 in the Landmark.
Sophomore Gavin Gismondi finished with a career-high eight point on five goals and three assists, moving him into a tie for fifth for the most in a single-game in program history. Senior Owen Yake recorded a career-high six goals, tying him for fourth all-time, while junior Riley Langen scored two goals and added three assist. Senior Micah Ballew also finished with five points on four goals and one assist.
Senior Griffin LeBlond tallied a team-high two goals for Moravian.
Etown left little doubt from the jump, rushing out to a 12-0 lead after a goal from Yake with 6:50 remaining in the second quarter. The Greyhounds managed its first goal of the game with 4:15 remaining in the half, but the Blue Jays added four more as senior Wes Mills found Yake for the final goal of the period to make the score 16-1 heading into the intermission.
Etown continued to roll, outscoring the Greyhounds 9-4 over the final two quarters for the 25-5 win. The Blue Jays are outscoring Landmark Conference opponents 108-42 this season, including three game with 25 or more goals.
Seniro Danny Gilbert won 17-24 face-offs with a game-high 11 ground balls. Senior Alex Kilgour and junior Jason Nazarenus each finished with a team-high two caused turnovers and sophomore Connor Stwewart was second on the team with five ground balls.
Sophomore Brayden Franey (8-5) earned the win making seven saves and allowing one goal in the first half. Classmate Alec Newman played the second half, making a career-high eight saves.
Freshman Thomas Lee (6-4) made four saves and allowed 16 goals to take the loss.
Elizabethtown is back in action on Saturday, April 23 at Susquehanna. Opening face-off is set for 1 p.m
