– The Cavaliers showed no rust after not seeing game action in nearly two weeks, as the No. 6 Cabrini men's lacrosse team cruised to a 29-6 win over Marymount at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The win improved Cabrini to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic East Conference, while extending its NCAA-record conference win streak to 123 games. The Cavaliers' 29 goals marked the most the team has recorded since a 27-10 win over Immaculata on April 25, 2018. The Blue and White also racked up 64 shots, including 39 on target, 18 assists, 48 ground balls, 25 faceoff wins and 10 turnovers, each among the team's best performances of the season. In total, 16 Cavaliers marked the scoring column, with 20 recording at least one point. Senior Matt LoParo led the way, while etching his name in the Cabrini scorebook. The senior tallied eight points on five goals and three assists, becoming the 11th player in program history to record 200 career points. Freshman Max Drift matched LoParo with a season best five goals, while senior Jake Klein handed out a season high five assists. Freshman Tommy Vaughan found the back of the net three times, one more than senior Ty Kostack, junior Kyle Tucker and freshman Dan Bennett. Juniors Nick Werner and Corey Carver added their first goals of the season, while freshman Jameson Smyth notched the first of his career. The Blue and White jumped ahead in the opening minute, as senior Mike Gerzabek scored just 15 seconds after the opening whistle. Cabrini pushed its lead to 3-1 less than four minutes into the action, but a run of 10 unanswered goals pushed the lead to 13-1 at the 10:47 mark of the second quarter. By the halftime break, the Cavaliers led 17-4 after outshooting the Saints 38-6. Senior Bobby Cressman caused two turnovers and matched classmate Tommy DeLuca with four ground balls. Sophomore Jake Huey and junior Matthew Ries controlled the faceoff spot, combining to go 21-30. Freshman goaltender Matt Sageder recorded two stops to earn the victory, with three other Cavaliers seeing time in the Blue and White crease. Jack Williams paired a goal and an assist for the Saints (1-3, 0-2 Atlantic East), while goaltender Brandon Hall tallied eight saves. The Cavaliers will have to wait another week before returning to action next Wednesday, when they head north to face Marywood University (2-2, 2-0 Atlantic East). Game time is set for 4pm in Scranton, PA.
