A late rally by Harvard women's lacrosse (3-5, 0-2 Ivy League) fell just short at Columbia (4-6, 1-2 Ivy League), as the Crimson fell 14-13 at Robert K. Kraft Field on Sunday (March 25). Julia Glynn had four goals and three assists, Keeley MacAfee added four goals and an assist, and Robyn White scored three early goals to lead the Harvard offensive attack. Olivia Gundrum made 17 saves in net. Nicole Baiocco and Lauren Ford led Harvard with three ground balls, with Ford adding a team high two caused turnovers. Trailing 14-8 with 10:50 remaining in the second half, Glynn sparked a five-goal run for the Crimson, taking a pass from Nicole Baiocco (three assists), and scoring a highlight-reel goal on a dive across the frame with 7:29 to play. Just 33 seconds later, Keeley MacAfee ran to the right of goal and fired shot past Columbia goalie Kelsey Gedin at 6:56, forcing a Columbia timeout. Glynn made a fantastic individual play, forcing a turnover on a Columbia clear attempt and beating Gedin with a quick shot at 4:48. A free position goal by MacAfee (4:08) followed by Tessa Queri's second goal of the game with 1:55 to play made it a one goal game, but the Crimson could not score the equalizer in the final minutes. White helped Harvard keep pace with Columbia early on, scoring the Crimson's first three goals, including two within a 27 second span (19:00 and 18:33) to tie the game at 3-3. Columbia went on a three-goal run, and maintained a 9-7 lead at the half. What's Next Harvard returns home next Saturday (March 31) to take on Dartmouth in a 1 p.m. contest at Harvard Stadium.
