Catholic University men's lacrosse junior Vince Catenacci scored three goals, including the game-winner with 4:02 left in the fourth quarter, as the Cardinals rallied for an 11-9 nonconference victory over Arcadia Saturday at Cardinal Stadium. Catholic (2-2) earned its first home win of the season and has won 15 of its last 20 at Cardinal Stadium. The team is also 32-15 in nonconference contests since 2015. Catenacci posted his second hat trick of the season, including his team-leading 11th goal. Junior Mark Tocchio also had three points with two goals and one assist. Led by two goals each from Josh Keitz and Brady Manion, the Knights (2-1) led 5-2 with 8:22 remaining in the second quarter before sophomore Patrick Silverman scored his first goal of the year with 31 seconds left to pull the Cardinals within two at the half. Catholic outcored Arcadia 8-4 in the second half with Catenacci and Tocchio combined for five goals. Freshmen Sean Baudo and Will Batson netted their first career goals back-to-back to start the third quarter, tying the game at 5-5. The two teams traded goals over the next 10 minutes before Tocchio's first goal of the game and fifth of the season gave the Cardinals their first lead since the 6:28 mark of the first quarter, 8-7 with 58 seconds to play in the third. The game, which featured seven ties and four lead changes, was tied at 9-9 when Catenacci found the back of the net for the third time, assisted by freshman Chris Novella, to put Catholic in front for good, 10-9 with 4:02 remaining. Freshman Joey Rockovich added an insurance tally with 30 seconds left after junior Alex Mulyk stoned the Knights on the door step for his 11th save of the day. Catholic outshot its opponent for the third time in four games this season, including 26-15 in the second half, while committing less turnovers for the third consecutive contest. The Cardinals open a four-game road trip on Wednesday when they face crosstown rival Marymount (Va.) at Long Bridge Park in Arlington, Va. Faceoff is at 4 p.m.
