GLENSIDE, Pa. -- A four-goal first quarter wasn't enough for the Arcadia men's lacrosse team in a 10-6 loss to DeSales on Tuesday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion. The Knights (2-2) opened up a quick 4-0 lead on the Bulldogs (3-0), before DeSales came roaring back with seven straight goals en route to the eventual victory. Brady Manion set up each of the first three goals for the Scarlet & Grey. At the 10:30 mark, he fed Clo Muscara for a 1-0 lead. Thirty-three seconds later, Manion found Sean Connolly as AU's lead grew to 2-0. Manion and Connolly hooked up once again, this time at 7:12 as the Knights went up 3-0, and Muscara fed Josh Keitz 22 seconds after that for a 4-0 lead. The Bulldogs, however, closed the first half with three straight tallies to make it 4-3 at the break, then opened the third quarter with four goals in the first 3:02 to take a 7-4 contest. Connolly netted his third goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the third to make it 7-5, but three more strikes from DeSales in the fourth gave the visitors a 10-5 lead with 10:42 to play. Connolly added his fourth goal of the game, a man-up effort off a feed from Wesley Sporer, to cap the scoring with 4:01 left. Grant Palmer played 59:06 in goal for the Knights, allowing eight goals and making 19 saves. Two of DeSales goals were scored on Connor Haines following penalties on Palmer that took him out of the contest. Matt Barry made 14 saves in the cage for DeSales. The Bulldogs outshot Arcadia 49-35, including 44-22 after the first quarter. Each team committed 24 turnovers, faceoffs with 10-8 in favor of DeSales, and the Bulldogs came up with 47 ground balls to 39 for the Knights. Ben La Rue had three caused turnovers and four ground balls for the Scarler & Grey, Keitz chipped in a pair of caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Kai Taylor led DeSales with three goals and an assist, and Matt Brown added a hat trick. Frank Krug had five caused turnovers and came away with 10 ground balls. The Knights are back on the field on Friday at Delaware Valley beginning at 7 p.m.
