The Ohio State University women’s lacrosse team could not find an answer for the No. 2 Maryland Terrapins, falling 20-5 on a rainy afternoon in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes fell behind early as Maryland opened the game on a 3-0 run, but McKayla Conti stopped the bleeding OSU with her 24th goal of the season to make it 3-1 with 17:36 left in the opening half. Liza Hernandez followed that with a goal of her own to cut the deficit to one, 3-2, with 16:01 to play in the first, before Maryland regained control. The Terrapins rattled off seven straight goals before Hernandez ended the run. Maryland responded to the Hernandez goal with another score of its own, but a Lauren Sherry goal with 11 seconds remaining in the half cut the OSU deficit to seven, 11-4, heading into the break. Ohio State opened the second half with a Hernandez goal, but from there it was all Maryland. The Terrapins scored nine goals in the second half to leave Columbus with a 20-5 win. Hernandez finished with three goals, while Conti and Sherry had a goal each. Conti also scooped up a ground ball. Erika Keselman led the team with three draw controls on the day, Lindsay Epstein had a pair of draws herself. Mackenzie Maring finished with two ground balls. Sara Dickinson added to her team leading assist total, notching her 20th helper of the season. The Buckeyes hit the road for their regular season finale on Friday when they face Johns Hopkins. The game is set for a 5 p.m. start on Friday, April 20.
