The Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team picked up a 13-7 win in their 2021 season debut over King's on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen used a big seven-goal first quarter to propel them to their first victory. The Dutchmen wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in 2021 when first-year Jake Bollinger scored the first goal of the season just 2:52 into the contest. King's would respond just 14 seconds later to bring the game back even before Bollinger would rattle off four consecutive goals in a 5:24 span to put LVC ahead 5-1. Fellow first-year Jack Kapscos would add a pair of goals in the final 4:03 and the Dutchmen held a 7-1 advantage after the first. Bollinger wasn't done scoring as he would add a pair of tallies in the second quarter and gave the Dutchmen a 9-2 halftime lead. Coming out of the break, Kapscos would find nylon again, this time on the man-up advantage to put LVC into double digits. After a pair of Monarch goals, Evan Federowicz would join the scoring action with a man-up goal of his own as LVC held a comfortable 11-4 lead with 15 minutes left to play. In the final stanza, Alex Kiviniemi would open the scoring just 2:41 into the quarter. King's would add three goals to try to mount any sort of comeback but a final Bollinger strike with a few minutes to play would thwart any idea of a comeback for King's as the Dutchmen cruised to the 13-7 win. Inside The Numbers Jake Bollinger was spectacular in his collegiate debut, netting eight goals and adding an assist for nine total points. Jack Kapscos wasn't too shabby himself in his debut with three goals and an assist. Michael Fisher was the leading assist man for LVC with a trio of helpers. Michael O'Brien was King's leading scorer with a hat trick. LVC out shot King's 55-29 for the game. Nick Serrano made 12 saves in net for the Dutchmen. Both teams capitalized on two of their man-up chances. LVC committed 11 turnovers compared to 18 for the Monarchs. Who's Next? The Dutchmen are at Arnold Field their next time out for their 2021 home opener when they host FDU-Florham. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
