The New England College men's lacrosse team wraps up the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) regular season title, following a 23-4 win over Becker College Saturday afternoon at Don Melander Field. Following the game, the Pilgrims improve to 6-8, 3-0 on the year, while the Hawks fall to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play. NEC LEADERS Connor Smith scored six goals on the day, while Charles Hacking had four. Reilly Parker had a game-high seven points (three goals, 4 assists), while Guershon Villiere, Patrick Storie, Jordan Osuch, and Christian Russo had two goals and one assist each. Russo and Connor Fries each had 10 plus ground balls today, with 12 and 10 respectively, while Fries had a game-high five caused turnovers. In the face-off circle, the Pilgrims combined to go 27-30 on the day with Russo winning 13 of 14. BECKER LEADERS Tyler Forest was the lone Hawk with more than one point on the afternoon, as the freshman had a goal and an assist. Lewis Jaworski led Becker with four ground balls, while Ryan Clifford had a pair of caused turnovers. HOW IT HAPPENED New England College struck early on, as Connor Smith struck 57 seconds into the game, putting the Pilgrims up 1-0. The lead would rapidly grow, as NEC scored nine more times in the opening 15 minutes. After outshooting the Hawks 19-4 in the first quarter, New England College struck seven more times in the quarter. The Pilgrims were not able to shutout Becker College in the second, as they got a goal from Mitchell Eldridge four minutes in and then one from Forest with four minutes left in the quarter. Heading into the third quarter, New England College maintained a 17-2 advantage. In the third, the lead continued to expand, as Guershon Villiere scored his first collegiate goal, before scoring his second 26 seconds later. Jordan Osuch made it 21-2 before Cameron Sangster ended the period with a goal for the Hawks. In the final quarter, Russo opened up the frame with winning the face-off cleanly, before scoring with just five seconds elapsed in the quarter. Osuch would finish off the scoring for the Pilgrims with 13:37 left in regulation, but Mitchel Wilkins was the last to score with 3:33 left in the game. Prior to the game, the New England College, men's lacrosse team honored their six seniors, Austin Frankel, Charles Levine, Chandler Shover, William Platt, Christian Russo, and Connor Fries.
