The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team defeated the University of New England 19-7 in non-conference action at UNE Blue Bolt Field on Tuesday night. Jeff Powers led the way for the Polar Bears with four goals to go with an assist. Nick Conway, Chris Fowler, and Jake Crossman each had three goals for the visitors who improved to 2-0 on the year. The game remained close over the opening 15 minutes as the teams traded scores after an early 2-0 lead for Bowdoin, who led 4-2 after one. The Polar Bears scored the first six of the second quarter to take control of the game and held a 12-4 advantage at halftime. The second half was much of the same as Bowdoin extended the margin to 17-5 through three quarters. Each team scored twice in the final period. Adam Race and Garett Bozek each had two goals for the Nor'easters. Bozek also dished out two assists as did Zach Bossi. Sam MacKenzie made eight saves over the first 41:09, Jake Kampner added four stops in his first action of the season. Jack O'Connor (3) and Michael Covell (1) combined for four saves for the Polar Bears. UNE is back in action at home on Thursday afternoon against Plymouth State at 3 p.m.
