The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team defeated Concordia University of Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon, by a score of 8-6. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 3-3 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 4-2 overall. HOW IT HAPPENED – The mid-week battle proved to be an evenly contested one, with both squads netting a pair of goals in the opening frame. Both of Brockport's scores came from the stick of Corey Choberka, as he gave the Green and Gold the early 1-0 lead, and knotted the game at 2-2. Brockport saw the Falcons regain the lead to open the second quarter, but answered with two scores to retake the advantage. Nick Daigle worked in an unassisted look, with Patrick Sheridan netting the go-ahead goal with less than two minutes in the half, as the Golden Eagles took a 4-3 edge into the break. The Green and Gold saw Concordia tie the score out of the half, but added some insurance to their lead after a pair of goals. Jake Recor connected with Aidan Fitzgerald for the go-ahead goal, while Lars Roos picked up his first goal as a Golden Eagle, sending a Billy Coppola pass to the back of the cage for the 6-4 edge. The teams traded goals to open the fourth quarter, with Brendan Halleran working in a Sheridan set up for the 7-5 edge. The back-and-fourth action continued, with another set of goals from each team, with Sheridan posting the final word for Brockport on a man-up opportunity to secure the 8-6 victory. KEY STATISTICS – The Golden Eagles registered 49 shots against their opponent. Brockport went 14-19 on clearing attempts. Patrick Sheridan and Corey Choberka tally two goals apiece. Sheridan is on a three-game goal-scoring streak, tabbing seven goals in the last three contests. UP NEXT – The Golden Eagles will be back in action Saturday, March 23 when they hit the road to take on Lycoming College, with opening faceoff set for 12 p.m.
