The Wesley College men's lacrosse team earned their first Atlantic East Conference win after defeating the Immaculata Mighty Macs, 11-7 at home on Saturday. Wesley jumped out to an early 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter with goals coming from Leo Kelly, Adam Tewey and Zach Farnell. Immaculata would trim their deficit down to 4-3 with three unanswered goals to begin the second quarter. With under three minutes remaining, Farnell would score an unassisted goal to push the Wesley lead up to 5-3. A late goal from Immaculata's Ethan Johnson would cut the Wesley lead to 5-4 heading into the halftime break. Immaculata would tie the contest at five with less than one minute into the second half after an unassisted goal from James Barretta. Five minutes later, Kelly would score off a feed from Tyler Lingenfelder to give Wesley the 6-5 lead. The Mighty Macs would answer right back with two goals in less than a minute to steal their first lead of the afternoon, 7-6 with just over nine minutes left in the third quarter. Immaculata's lead would only last for three minutes as Wesley would go on a 5-0 scoring run to power ahead of Immaculata. Tewey would tie the game at seven with six minutes left in the third quarter. Two minutes later, Tewey would net the go-ahead goal and Wesley didn't look back. Kelly paced the Wolverines offense with a career-high four goals on the afternoon. Farnell and Tewey each recorded a hat trick. Farnell added an assist in the win. Defensively, Dylan Sicca stopped17 shots that came his way to register his sixth double-digit save performance of the season. Nick Bruhn scooped up a game-best eight ground balls and handed out a team-high two helpers. Ben Mitzel caused a game-high five turnovers. Wesley will be back in Atlantic East action on Wednesday, April 10 when they hit the road to take on the seventh-ranked Cabrini Cavaliers. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
