The Wesley College men's lacrosse team honored their seniors with a dominant 21-2 win over the La Roche Redhawks on Saturday. Wesley's 21-goal performance is the most goals scored in a game since they defeated Southern Virginia 21-8 on April 18, 2015. Kyle Mackall-Lloyd got the scoring going early when he tallied the first goal of the afternoon just 50 seconds into the game. Zach Farnell and Adam Tewey both scored for Wesley in the first quarter to give the Wolverines the 3-1 advantage heading into the second frame. Wesley used a run of five unanswered goals to take an 8-1 lead over La Roche into halftime. Wesley made sure everyone got in on the action in the third quarter, including senior defender Joshua Short, who scored his first colligate goal with just over nine minutes remaining in the quarter to pad Wesley's sizeable lead. A run of 10 unanswered goals stringing throughout the third and fourth quarters would seal Wesley's victory. Farnell and Leo Kelly led all scorers with five goals apiece. Farnell also handed out two helpers and picked up a ground ball. Kelly recorded five assists, three ground balls and caused two turnovers in the win. Tewey and Mackall-Lloyd scored four goals each. Tewey added a game-best six assists to his efforts. Nick Bruhn registered three assists. Jack Guzman and Derek Hallock chipped in with a goal of their own respectively. Along with his first collegiate goal, Short caused a game-high 10 turnovers and scooped up a team-best 10 ground balls. Right behind him was Ben Mitzel, who registered nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Wesley ends their regular season with an Atlantic East Conference road trip to Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday. Faceoff is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.
