The Endicott men's lacrosse team lost to Trinity (Conn.), 14-10, on Tuesday evening in its 2021 season opener at Jessee/Miller Field. Tied 9-9 with 18-seconds to play in the third quarter, Trinity scored three straight goals to secure a 12-9 lead midway into the final stanza to improve to 2-0 on the season. Endicott held five different leads in the contest (1-0, 2-0, 5-4, 6-5, 7-5), but the Bantams answered each deficit with a run of three or more unanswered goals for the eventual victory. Offensively, Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a hat-trick. Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.) also added two tallies, while Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.), Nick Sturgess (Hampstead, N.H.), Domenic Russo (Northborough, Mass.), Jaden Elsinger (Jericho, Vt.), and Sam DesMarais (York, Maine) all buried one goal apiece. BEYOND THE BOX SCORE Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) stopped 19 shots, two shy of tying his single-game career-high. In addition to his one goal, Pagluiso dished out four assists for a total of five points in the contest. His four assists are the most registered in a season opener since Colin Bannon '17 M'18 (Westport, Conn.) had five against Stevens on February 22, 2015. This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs. WHAT'S NEXT Endicott (0-1) travels to Salve Regina on Saturday, March 27 at 1 PM. Trinity (2-0) visits Wentworth tomorrow at 7 PM. Meanwhile, the men's golf schedule will be posted at a later date. Please note, with the safety of the Endicott community as our top priority, no spectators will be permitted at any Endicott home sporting event that is conducted in 2020-21. Lastly, the format and times for all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships have yet to be finalized. BASEBALL 2021 Schedule NOTES: The CCC has split up the conference into pods. Endicott will play in "Pod B" against Gordon, Suffolk, and Wentworth. Meanwhile, "Pod A" features Curry, Nichols, Roger Williams, Salve Regina, and Western New England. Weekend doubleheaders will be played in a 7-inning/9-inning game format and count towards the conference standings. If game one of the doubleheader goes into extra innings then game two will revert to a 7-inning contest. Mid-week games against league opponents and contests versus non-pod teams will not factor into the conference standings. Any additional games against opponents in Endicott's pod will not affect the conference standings. A mercy rule of 10 runs after seven frames will also be in effect for all league bouts. MEN'S LACROSSE 2021 Schedule NOTES: Weekend games will count towards the conference standings, while mid-week games will not except for the last week of the season (i.e., 4/28 vs. Curry). WOMEN'S LACROSSE 2021 Schedule NOTES: All league games will count towards the conference standings, as normal. SOFTBALL 2021 Schedule NOTES: Much like the CCC's baseball format, Endicott will play in "Pod B" against Gordon, Suffolk, the University of New England (UNE), and Wentworth. Weekend doubleheaders will count towards the conference standings, while mid-week games will not. Any games played against non-pod opponents also will not affect the conference standings. Any additional games against opponents in Endicott's pod will not factor into the conference standings. Regular mercy rules still apply (8 runs after 5 innings). MEN'S TENNIS 2021 Schedule NOTES: Endicott will compete in "Pod B" against Curry, Gordon, and Wentworth. The Gulls will play two Saturday conference matchups against each team in the pod. Any other matches against "Pod B" opponents will not affect the conference standings. WOMEN'S TENNIS 2021 Schedule NOTES: Endicott will compete in "Pod B" against Curry, Gordon, and Wentworth. The Gulls will play two Saturday conference matchups against each team in the pod. Any other matches against "Pod B" opponents will not affect the conference standings. WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD 2021 Schedule NOTES: The Gulls will compete in at least two meets against conference-only programs prior to the CCC Championship. MEN'S VOLLEYBALL 2021 Schedule NOTES: The Gulls will play in 11 regular season matches this season. All New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) matches will be played on back-to-back days, preferably weekends, or as doubleheaders. Springfield, which normally competes as an independent school, has been added to this year's NECC schedule as a scheduling partner to allow programs in the NECC and Springfield to meet the minimum match requirement to qualify for NCAA Tournament play. Lastly, Endicott will play Wentworth in a non-conference matchup on 3/31. For the latest on Endicott Athletics, follow the Gulls on social media on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. Posted: Mar 03, 2021 BEVERLY, Mass. – In two separate announcements this week, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) approved their respective return to play protocols for spring sports. Below are both announcements which impact Endicott in the following CCC sports (baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, and women's track & field) and NECC sports (men's volleyball). CCC play is set to begin on March 27, while NECC men's volleyball action is tentatively scheduled to start on March 12. Due to the ever-changing pandemic landscape, all CCC and NECC anticipated schedules are subject to change. Please note, with the safety of the Endicott community as our top priority, no spectators will be permitted at any Endicott home sporting event that is conducted in 2020-21. CCC PRESS RELEASE On Wednesday (3/3), the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Board of Directors approved its plan to return to conference competition for the spring 2021 season. The plan affirms the Board's previously stated intention to begin CCC play for spring sports beginning on March 27. Protocols have been adopted with the health and safety of our campus communities remaining the priority. Conference members will be required to test all student-athletes and team personnel twice per week, with a negative PCR test result required at least 72 hours before competition. In addition to this rigorous COVID-19 testing protocol which exceeds NCAA recommendations, the CCC will require universal masking for all competitors, team personnel, and officials. Additionally, no spectators will be admitted to the sites of competition. This decision affects baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, and women's track & field. Conference schedules and tournament formats are in the process of being finalized by the CCC athletic directors and the conference office. Additionally, each individual CCC institution will be allowed to exercise autonomy with regard to its non-conference schedules. NECC PRESS RELEASE On Monday (3/1), the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Presidents' Council formally approved policies and protocols that support the resumption of NECC competition this spring. The Council did acknowledge that despite its endorsement of health and safety protocols, it will remain the decision of each member institution to determine if they can safely participate in intercollegiate athletics this spring and in which sports they will permit competition. Consistent with all decisions, the safety and well-being of our student-athletes and campus communities remain the primary focus of the NECC. The Conference will ensure all student-athletes and appropriate game personnel meet testing standards consistent with current NCAA protocol. Additionally, all NECC student-athletes and game personnel will be required to wear face coverings during all competitions. Full spring sport schedules will be shared as soon as they are finalized by the conference. The conference will continue to examine its postseason qualification policies and tournament formats. Additional information on the NECC postseason will be made available in the coming weeks. Specific questions regarding either the CCC or NECC Return To Play Plans should be directed to Dr. Brian A. Wylie, Assistant Vice President & Athletics Director at bwylie@endicott.edu or 978-232-2440.
