ANNVILLE, Pa. – Jake Bollinger led the offense with six points as the Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team started strong and then pulled away from visiting Wilkes University for a 17-9 victory on Arnold Field on Wednesday.
LVC (4-4) scored the first four goals of the game and led 5-1 after one. The Colonels (4-4) outscored the Dutchmen 5-2 in the second quarter to cut the lead to one goal heading into halftime. The Dutchmen scored twice in the final minute of the third quarter to take an 11-9 lead and then scored all six fourth quarter goals.
Inside the Box Score
Bollinger had a season-high four goals and two assists in the game. He now has 20 points on the year which is second on the team. The sophomore scored a goal in each quarter.
Alex Kiviniemi scored a career-high five goals while recording his third five-point game of the year. The junior recorded his 50th career point with the game-winning goal in the third quarter with 33 seconds left and is currently at 52 points.
Colin Hughes had two goals and an assist to record his third multi-point game in a row. Ben Weathersby led the team with six ground balls and scored his second career goal just before time expired in the third.
Gavin Porter was great on faceoffs winning a season-high 15 on 22 attempts. Mitchell Gearhart won three faceoffs on six attempts. Nick Serrano made 12 saves in goal.
The Dutchmen outshot the Colonels 61-31 including a 32-21 advantage in shots on goal. LVC was a season-best 15-17 on clear attempts and scored a season-high 17 goals while also causing a season-high 14 turnovers.
LVC evened the all-time series up with the Colonels in the second meeting. WU defeated the Dutchmen 11-10 in Edwardsville last year.
Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will be under the lights of Arnold Field on Friday night in the final non-conference game of the year. The Dutchmen will face their third Wilkes-Barre area opponent in a row as they host King's College for a 7 p.m. start.
