. – Second-quarter surge by Lasell University is too much to overcome, as the New England College Men's Lacrosse Team fall to the, 15-10, in non-conference action, Tuesday afternoon. Following the game, the Pilgrims move to 2-2 on the year, while the Lasers move to 4-2. HOW IT HAPPENED The Pilgrims started out strong as they scored the first two goals of the game just under two minutes for an early lead. Connor Smith and Patrick Storie put the goals in for the New England College. The Lasers would respond though as they scored the next two to tie things up with five minutes left in the quarter. The Pilgrims stayed strong though as they scored three of the next four goals to close the quarter out with a 5-3 lead. Things flipped completely in the second quarter as it was all Lasell the whole way through. The Lasers put in six goals in the second and held New England College scoreless in the quarter. The Pilgrims found themselves down 9-5 going into the break. Lasell held their momentum in the third quarter scoring three goals in the first eight minutes. New England College made some efforts as they started to make some plays but were still unable to breakthrough. The Lasers added one more before the Pilgrims broke their 28 minutes scoring drought. Lucas Ferreira put two goals in less than 30 seconds apart, both assisted by Josh Owen as the Pilgrims refound some offense. Despite the newfound offense, Lasell was still ahead 13-7 going into the final frame of play. In the fourth quarter, the Lasers struck first but New England College responded less than a minute later to keep the deficit at 6. The Pilgrims added a man-up goal with about eight minutes to play to make it 14-9. However, New England College could not put much more together despite several shots that rang off the pipe. Each team added one more goal before the end of the game as Lasell claimed a 15-10 win. GOALTENDERS Michael Catalano recorded 10 saves for NEC, while Alex Beauchemin registered 16 for Lasell in the winning effort. INSIDE THE NUMBERS - This is the first time these two teams have ever met. -Quint Bartush had a great day at the faceoff winning 78 percent of his 29 faceoffs while scooping up a game-high 12 ground balls and adding an assist. -Charles Hacking and Lucas Ferreira each had three goals in the contest.
