The Medaille men's lacrosse team opened up their 2021 campaign with a loss on the road against Penn College on Saturday. The Mavericks quickly fell into a deficit just two minutes into the first quarter when the Wildcats opened the scoring. Penn would go on to score five more until the Mavs responded halfway through the second quarter. Freshman Max Surdyk (Tonawanda, NY, Kenmore West) would pot his first of the season to break the Wildcat scoring streak and slim the deficit to 6-1. However, the Mavs would allow three more in just three minutes, going down 9-1. Surdyk would find the scoresheet again, finding the back of the net off a nice find by Matt Kennedy (Hamburg, NY, Frontier) with the man-advantage. That would be the final goal both sides would score before entering halftime with the Mavs trailing 9-2. Penn would open up the back end increasing their lead to 11-2 before Nathan Walker (West Seneca, NY, West Seneca East) would net his first of the season with a man up.
