WATERVILLE, Maine -- Max Cushman scored five goals and Riley Bergstrom dished five assists and scored a goal for the Colby College men's lacrosse team in a 26-6 win over Husson University at Harold Alfond Stadium on Tuesday.
The Mules improve to 2-2 overall, while the Eagles drop to 0-3.
By the numbers
* Bergstrom added five ground balls, while Cushman had two ground balls and one caused turnover.
* Carter Vickers scored four goals and Bret Miller finished with three goals and one assist. Carlos Beason (1 goal, 2 assists), Charlie Lynch (2 goals, 1 assist), Beck French (2 goals, 1 assist), and Jack Rickards (3 assists) all had three points.
* Michael Minard and Derek Muse each had two goals for the Mules. Noah Froio (pictured), CJ Hassan, and Jack Sine all had one goal and one assist.
* Will Dodge had a game-high nine ground balls and caused one turnover for Colby. Henry Nelson added four ground balls and Froio had three.
* The Mules won 30-of-36 face-offs, including a 7-for-7 effort from Joe Paolatto to start the game. Jung Shin had 18 wins in 22 attempts and Michael Cliff was 5-of-7. Shin had five ground balls, while Paolatto and Cliff each had three.
* Billy Chizmar played the first half and made three saves. Cooper Giblin played the final 30 minutes and had two stops for Colby.
* Zach Glazier had a pair of goals to lead the Eagles. Gunner McAllister and Jaden Wells both had one goal and one assist. Blake Campbell and Adam Littlefield had the other Husson goals.
* Chad Merrill led the Eagles with three ground balls.
* Matt Martin had 11 saves in the opening half for Husson. Kyle Prior stopped two shots in the second half.
Game highlights
* The Mules scored the first seven goals of the game and led 8-1 after one quarter.
* Vickers and Lynch both scored two goals in the second quarter for a 15-3 halftime lead. The Mules added the first five goals of the third quarter for a 20-3 margin.
