Ryan Gebhardt struck for five goals and Carson White made 13 saves to lead No. 14 Stevens Institute of Technology to a 13-5 victory over Colorado College in a men's lacrosse game on Sunday at John's Hopkins University's Homewood Field. After junior midfielder Max Rieser put CC on the board in the opening minute of the contest, Gebhardt notched back-to-back tallies to give the Ducks a lead they would not relinquish. Dean Peluso increased Stevens' lead to 3-1, and then Gebhardt added three more scores in a little less than two minutes to give the Ducks a five-goal cushion. Sophomore attackman John Sutro trimmed the Tiger deficit to 6-2 with three minutes remaining in the first quarter, but that proved to be as close as Colorado College would get. Peluso notched his second of the game 3:01 into the second quarter, and then Eric Radbourne scored the first of three man-up goals for Stevens. The Tigers were still within striking distance after junior attackman Coby Petau and Sutro found the cage in the second quarter, however CC did not strike again until freshman attackman Elliot Nelson scored with one second remaining in the contest. Sutro led the Tigers with a pair of goals, while Rieser produced a goal and an assist. The Ducks finished with a 52-29 advantage in total shots, but the margin in those on target was much closer at 22-18. Senior goalkeeper Brice Tucker made a career-high nine saves for Colorado College, which slipped to 0-2. Stevens converted on three of eight extra-man opportunities, while CC was 0-for-2. The Ducks built a 33-28 edge in ground balls, while both teams won 10 faceoffs. Freshman Jacob Rogers was 10-for-19 at the dot and picked up a team-high four ground balls for the Tigers. After opening the season with two games against nationally ranked opponents on the road, Colorado College plays its home opener against Berry College on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. on Washburn Field.
