NEW LONDON, Conn. - Sophomore Danny Murphy had two goals and three assists to lead the second-ranked Tufts University men's lacrosse team to a 12-6 victory against Connecticut College in NESCAC action Saturday. Junior Nico Pollack tallied twice for Tufts The Jumbos improved their record to 9-0 with a 4-0 mark in the NESCAC while the Camels evened their record at 4-4 with a 1-3 record in conference play. Junior Nico Pollack and senior Zach Richman scored two goals each for the Jumbos. Tufts sophomore goalie Ben Shmerler made five saves in the opening half of action. Robert Treiber stopped five shots in second-half duty for the Jumbos. Connecticut College sophomore Jackson Kleintz netted four goals in the loss for the Camels. Junior All-American Ben Parens was 15 for 22 on face-offs with five ground balls. Richman vaulted the visitors out to a 4-1 advantage when he flipped one in over his shoulder with 5:17 to go nin the first. The Jumbos tacked on another goal from Nick Shanks to take a 5-1 edge after one quarter of play. In the opening minute of the second quarter, the Camels got one back when Tucker Mscisz buried one from the right side of the box with 14:20 remaining as Jordan Foster assisted. Pollack netted the next two goals for the visitors to make it a 7-2 contest. With 4:45 to play in the half, Shmerler made a terrific stop on Winston Palmeri's shot from point-blank range. Kleintz closed out the half with a goal to make it a 7-3 score in favor of the Jumbos at the break. The two sides exchanged goals in the third quarter before the Jumbos scored with one minute remaining. Richman capitalized on an assist from Tucker Mathers, cashing in on an unsettled situation and the Jumbos enjoyed a 9-4 lead.
