The Marymount University men's lacrosse team took the field Wednesday afternoon to face off against the Aggies of Delaware Valley University. The Aggies held off the Saints' final seconds of attack to secure the win, 13-12. Delaware Valley came out fast, scoring three unanswered goals within the first five minutes of play. The Saints answered with their own five-goal run. Freshman Hunter Ralston put the Saints on the board for the first after receiving a pass from sophomore Clark Akers from behind the goal. Before the quarter was over Ralston found his second goal of the quarter, and senior Matthew Ebert, who made his senior year debut notched his first of the season. Just under five minutes past in the second quarter, Akers beat his mark from behind the goal to give the Saints their largest lead of the day, 6-3. However, that was the only time the Saints found the back of the net in the second. The Aggies outscored the Saints 5-1 in the second to take a two-goal lead heading into the break. After the halftime break, Ebert found the back of the net four times to lead the Saints in scoring. Despite his efforts the Aggies always had an answer when the Saints managed to tie it. Ebert lead the team in goals (five) and in points (seven), as Ralston found the net four times, and Akers twice to go with two assists. Ralston's goals are a new career high. Senior Christian Lutz took full helm at the faceoff "X" today. He took all 29 face offs, coming away with 16 wins (55%). Senior net minder Grey Clarkson played all 60 minutes of action. Clarkson was faced with 26 shots, saving 13 of them. The Saints hit the road this Saturday, March 16th to face off against Berry College as a part of their Spring Break trip to Rome, Georgia. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
