The Northern Vermont University-Lyndon men's lacrosse team came out of the gate with some of their best play of the season, jumping out to a 5-2 first quarter lead against North Atlantic Conference frontrunner SUNY Delhi. Unfortunately for the Hornets, they were unable to sustain things, as the Broncos battled back and emerged with a 14-7 victory at Norwich University's Sabine Field. Delhi remains unbeated in NAC play at 5-0 and sits at 10-4 overall on the season. The Hornets fall to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Broncos got on the board first, just 41 seconds into the game, when Malik Talbert found the net. Spencer Aubin (Sharon, MA) tied things with a man up goal off of an assist from Anthony Townsend (Pembroke, MA), then Benjamin Cheever (Johnson, VT) gave the Hornets the lead with an unassisted tally. Talbert's man up goal tied thngs at 2-2, but back to back goals from Townsend and Cheever's second goal gave Lyndon a 5-2 lead after one quarter. The Broncos controlled the second quarter, scoring four times while holding the Hornets scoreless. Brandon Katz, Jacob Nygard, John Rohan III, and Travis Biggs recorded the Delhi goals, as the Broncos moved in front, 6-5, at the half. Goals from Katz and Briggs extended the Delhi lead to three, before Taner Onor (East Montpelier, VT) took a feed from Townsend and found the net to cut the Delhi lead to 8-6. Brandon McGrath's goal, followed by a man up score from Talbert gave the Broncos a 10-6 advantage going into the final quarter. Talbert's fourth goal just over two minutes into the fourth quarter built the Delhi lead to five. With just under nine minutes to go Onor powered his way to the goal and scored unassisted to make it 11-7. Delhi ended any hopes of a Hornet comeback with three late goals to round out the scoring. The Broncos outshot the Hornets 51-28 for the game. Hornet goalie Aaron Florence (Mandeville, LA) stopped 21 Delhi shots while his Bronco counterpart, Travis Anderson turned away nine shots.
