Center Valley, PA (March 16, 2019) - Senior Joe Neggia scored his 100th career goal leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team to its seventh straight win, 15-4, over Gwynedd-Mercy University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Basics/Notes Final Score: DeSales - 15, Gwynedd-Mercy - 4 Records: DeSales (7-0); Gwynedd-Mercy (5-2) The Bulldogs extend its program-best win streak to seven games in the win. How It Happened It was all DeSales from the very start as the Bulldogs scored the first three goals of the game, all by Neggia as he recorded his 100th career goal giving DSU a 3-0 lead, 7:02 into the game. After trading the next four goals, DSU scored the final three tallies of the half to take an 8-2 lead. The Bulldogs put the game away in the third quarter scoring the first six goals of the second-half and all six goals in the third quarter to take a 14-2 lead and cruised from there. Top Bulldog Performers Neggia becomes the sixth player to score 100+ career goals tallying five goals and one assist on the afternoon. He now has 102 career goals. Sophomore Zach Bowen added four goals and freshman Tom Connors was outstanding handing out five assists in the win. Junior Justin Monaghan had two goals and two assists, junior Matt Brown finished with two assists and one goal, and freshman Sean Wiser had three points with one goal and two assists. Junior Eric Magro (one goal) and freshman Kai Taylor (one assist) rounded out the scoring. Connors added a team-high seven ground balls, while Neggia, sophomore Vince Maria, and junior Frank Krug all had three caused turnovers. Senior Matt Barry was once again stellar in goal making seven saves and allowing just two goals in three quarter of play. For the Foes Four players scored goals including Ryan Simpson, Joseph Pandolfi, Jacob Dzierzgowski, and John McCreary. Inside the Box Score The Bulldogs had a 35-26 advantage in shots and a 37-33 edge in ground balls. DSU was 16-for-22 in clears and forced the Griffins into eight turnovers on their 16 clear attempts. DeSales was 3-for-4 in extra man opportunities.
