The Ferrum College men's lacrosse team survived an overtime thriller at home, beating William Peace University 12-11 in non-conference play tonight at W.B. Adams Stadium. RECORDS Ferrum (2-1) William Peace (1-2) THE BASICS The Panthers jumped out to a 7-1 first-quarter lead on a pair of goals each by Michael Paolicelli and Cam Steeley, and one each by Austin Nowlin, Jack Sheehan and Derek Farwell. Sheehan added a goal in the second quarter, while the Pacers scored twice to make it 8-3 at the break. Sheehan added two goals in the third, and added one to open the fourth, extending Ferrum's lead to 11-5 at the 9:55 mark. The Pacers caught fire and scored six goals before the end of the quarter, including three by Anthony Florian. Finn McGrady's unassisted talley with 39 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime. In the first overtime, Steeley scooped the ball up off the faceoff and raced towards the right side of the field then fed the ball to Nowlin in the middle, who put a shot past WPU backup goalkeeper Kuluel Moore for the win.
