Ohio- Men's lacrosse suffered its first loss of the season Friday afternoon, falling to the visiting Wooster Fighting Scots, 17-3. The Scots scored nine unanswered goals between 9:15 in the first quarter and 2:27 in the second quarter that all but put the Cardinals away. Wooster earns its first victory of the season after falling to Albion last week, a team that Otterbein defeated 12-8. The loss drops Otterbein to 2-1 on the season as they gear up for a trip out west for a two game slate in Colorado. HOW IT HAPPENED: The Scots struck first, just 20 seconds into the game, when Drake Nickolaison was able to beat Zach Groene low and away. Otterbein answered the goal soon after thanks to Collin Troxell sprinting past his man down the alley for his first goal of the season. Wooster then went on its first run of the game, scoring nine unanswered. Otterbein closed the second with a Ben Lewis goal, and opened the third with a score from Mike Brendle while trying to climb back into the contest. Wooster ended all hopes of that soon after, ripping off six more unanswered goals to close the game. INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Otterbein was outshot 26 to 10 in the first half, and 53 to 33 for the entire game. Wooster converted all three of its extra man opportunities, while Otterbein was failed to convert on any of its six chances. Wooster goalie Wesley Wagner made 10 saves on the afternoon, and dished out one assist. Groene made 14 saves in 53 minutes of action, while Bryce Perram made two saves in relief. UP NEXT: Otterbein will travel west for two contests over spring break, playing at Adams State on March 2nd and at Colorado College on March 4th, both games are scheduled for 3 p.m. Mountain Time.
