The Walsh men's lacrosse season came to an end as the fourth-seeded Cavaliers fell to top-seeded Mercyhurst 13-5 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinals at Tullio Field Thursday afternoon. The Cavs end the year at 4-12 while the Lakers advance to Saturday's championship game with a record of 12-2. Bryan Crim opened the scoring for the Maroon and Gold as the G-MAC All-Conference midfielder scored on an unassisted strike to tie the game at 1-1 with 8:37 left in the first. It wasn't until after the Lakers scored four goals until the Cavs scored again when Alex Hudgens found the back of the net 1:35 into the second to make the score 5-2. Ryan Martin cut the deficit to two on an assist from Kevin McMahon with 4:22 to go in the half, but could get no closer. Hudgens scored a second late in the third quarter, but by that time Mercyhurst led by six. Crim scored the final goal of the game with eight seconds left. Dylan Ciolino, who was honored before the game as the G-MAC's Goalkeeper of the Year, made 12 saves between the pipes on 48 shots faced. Ryan Rafac was impressive on face-offs as he went 11-of-17 from the center with five ground balls.
