Junior Logan Bowdish (Waterford, Conn.) and sophomore Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) each scored four goals, but it wasn't enough, as the Connecticut College men's lacrosse team fell to Colby by a 20-17 score on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium. The seesaw battle featured 12 ties and seven lead changes. Furthermore, both teams scored four goals in the first, five in the second, and six in the third to end each of the first three frame deadlocked on the scoreboard. However, the Mules outshot the Camels by a 16-7 margin in the fourth, and 29-16 in the second half alone, to put themselves in a position to pull away. After sophomore Joey Bradley (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished a pass from junior Patrick Linehan (Baltimore, Md.) to knot the game at 16s with 11:18 remaining, Doug McCarthy answered just 14 seconds later to put the hosts ahead for good. Colby (3-1, NESCAC East 2-1), which forced 18 Camel turnovers while only committing eight, got six goals from Noah Froio and five from Jack Rickards. Will Dodge picked up seven ground balls, and goalie Matt Rocha made four saves to earn the win between the pipes. In addition to Bowdish and Rainville, Connecticut College (2-3, NESCAC East 0-2) got strong efforts from senior Toby Almeida (Cumberland, R.I.) and freshman Will Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.). Almeida won 22 faceoffs and scooped up 15 ground balls, while Rice stopped 13 shots. Connecticut College will next wrap up NESCAC East action when it hosts Bates on Saturday, May 1st at 3 p.m. The Camels will also recognize their nine-member senior class prior to the contest.
