Williams College handed the Connecticut College men's lacrosse team its first loss of the season by a score of 14-9 at Silfen Field on Saturday afternoon. The Ephs came out buzzing in the first quarter of the competition, netting seven unanswered goals against the Camels. Junior Logan Bowdish (Waterford, Conn) finally found the back of the net with 1:17 remaining in the quarter to end the run which was assisted by sophomore Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn). Bowdish got himself involved in four of the Camels' nine goals this afternoon, finishing with two goals and two assists. After a tough first half, the Camels gained some confidence, scoring three goals in the third quarter, including a man-down tally from Rainville. But the first-half deficit was too large to overcome. Despite the scoring margin, Conn was able to outscore Williams 6-3 in the second half with two of the finishes coming from junior Patrick Linehan (Baltimore, Md.). Senior Toby Almeida (Cumberland, R.I.) won 15 of 25 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls for the Camels, while Rainville finished with four points on one goal and three helpers. Defensively, sophomore Jack Venturelli (Duxbury, Mass) finished with six groundballs and a game-high five caused turnovers, and netminders Billy Dreyer (Columbia, S.C.) and Will Rice (New Rochelle, N.Y.) combined for seven saves. Williams (1-0) produced nine different goal scorers, four of which had two apiece. Senior Cory Lund assisted on three goals, and Alex Kitt and Brian Greenstein each scooped up five ground balls. Goalkeeper Harry Gahagan tallied 16 saves on the day to earn the victory. Connecticut College (2-1) will look to get back to NESCAC East Division competition at home on Saturday, April 17 against No. 4 Tufts.
