CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Jeremiah Clemmer scored a man-up goal in double overtime to lift visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland to a 14-13 win over host Washington College in a non-conference men's lacrosse game played today on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. St. Mary's College of Maryland 14, Washington College 13 (2OT) How It Happened - Dominic Venanzi and Abe Hubbard scored in the opening 4:27 to give the Seahawks an early 2-0 lead. - Charlie Wittich scored off of a Cooper Sloan assist with 9:01 to go to cut the lead to 2-1, and Logan Clefisch tied the game 34 seconds later with an unassisted goal. - St. Mary's again scored two straight goals to take a 4-2 lead following goals from Ben Claffee and Jack Gillogly with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter. - Washington would then end the quarter on a 3-0 run. Jeremy Wilson cut the lead to 4-3 with an unassisted goal, and a man-up goal from Sloan off an assist from Joe Maimone tied the game at 4-4 with 3:41 left. Wittich then finished off an assist from Sean Reilly with 42 seconds to play to give the Shoremen a 5-4 lead at the end of the quarter. - Sloan started the second quarter with an unassisted goal 2:01 in to cap a 4-0 Washington run and give the Shoremen a 6-4 lead. Erich Wuesthoff finished off an assist from Venanzi with 10:50 to play to cut the lead to 6-5, before Sloan scored again 53 seconds later, this time off a Cody Pascale assist, to push the Washington lead to 7-5 with 9:57 to go. - The Seahawks would get a goal from Noah Kellner off a Clemmer assist, and then a Venanzi goal off a Jude Brown assist with 1:53 to play to send the game into the locker room tied at 7-7. - Each team would score four times in the third quarter to send the game into the fourth quarter tied at 11-11. Luke Brennan capped the quarter with a goal with 1.4 seconds to go, as he picked up the rebound of a Wilson shot and scored to beat the quarter buzzer. - Joe Tobin gave the Shoremen a 12-11 lead off an unassisted goal with 13:07 to go, and Brennan would again score a goal off of a rebound of a missed shot with 9:50 to play to give Washington a 13-11 advantage. - Washington would take an unnecessary roughness penalty, their first penalty of the game, and Claffee would eventually score a man-up goal off a Clemmer assist to cut the lead to 13-12 with 6:01 to go. The Shoremen would then take another penalty, but got a pair of saves on the penalty kill from Chris Del Rosario and were able to successfully kill the penalty. Washington, however, would step in the crease on the next possession and turn the ball over, and the Seahawks would take advantage and get the game tying goal with 2:50 to play from Hubbard, finishing off a Wuesthoff assist to knot the game at 13-13. - St. Mary's would win the next face-off and get five shots away on the next possession, but Claffee would hit the crossbar and Venanzi had the final shot in the flurry stopped by Del Rosario with 17 seconds to go to send the game into overtime. - The Seahawks won the opening overtime face-off and Jack Brocato got a great look, but his shot was turned aside by Del Rosario. Washington successfully cleared the ball and called timeout, but would turn the ball over back to St. Mary's, who would then turn the ball over themselves, giving the Shoremen another chance to win. Washington, however, would again turn the ball back over to the Seahawks with 25 seconds to go, and Venanzi would get a shot off with two seconds to go, but it went wide as the game went into a second overtime. - The two teams would start the second overtime by trading turnovers, giving the ball to the Shoremen with about two minutes to play. Clefisch would get a good look but send a shot high with 1:28 to go. Pascale then appeared to win the game just a few seconds later as he scored a diving goal, but was given a one minute penalty for diving into the crease and making contact with the goaltender, disallowing the goal. Brock Daniel was also called for a push on the play for pushing Pascale into the crease, and St. Mary's was awarded the ball following a timeout. - The Seahawks held the ball to kill off Daniel's penalty, and Clemmer would then end the game with a man-up goal with 40 seconds to go, scoring from the right slot off an assist from Venanzi.
