The Lions of Mount St. Joseph University hosted the Student Princes of Heidelberg University. Unfortunately the game came to an abrupt stop in the third quarter when the skies opened up and the game got called due to lightning. The game finished with The Mount trailing Heidelberg 4-18. The first quarter was dominated by the Student Princes as they scored 10 goals to The Lions two. The Mount's first goal was scored by Tony Behler (Cincinnati, OH/ Elder) and was assisted by Kevin McClanahan (Madeira, OH/ Madeira). This goal put an end to Heidelberg's run and Behler secured his first goal of the season. The Student Princes were able to double their score to 10 before The Mount was able to score again. The second goal came with 2 seconds left on the clock with Noah Borgdorf (Bellevue, MI, Bellevue) assisting McClanahan and finishing the quarter with the score of 10-2. In the second quarter Heidelberg scored another three goals before the team of McClanahan and Borgdorf, with the assist, score goal number three for The Lions. Unfortunately the student princes were able to score five more goals before half time came. During halftime the skies began to open and rain started to hit the field. The teams were able to come out and start the third quarter and The Lions were the only team to get a point on the board in this quarter. The last goal of the game went to The Mount and McClanahan was able to get his third goal of the game, 8th of the season, with an assist from Bo Kuenning (St. Marys, OH / St. Marys Memorial). With 7:20 left in the third quarter the rain became stronger and the lightning began. Both team went back to their locker rooms and waited to hear the decision about the game. A few minutes later after a couple more thunder rumbles the game got called and The Mount lost with the final score of 18-4. The Lions will be back in action Monday, March 11th on Schueler Field at 1 o'clock as they take on the Red Hawks of La Roche College.
