"We are learning and growing our lacrosse IQ. In the fourth quarter we showed up and Noah was big for us. Hopefully next game gets a little better. [Dean College], up next, that is a good program, an incoming GNAC program, as long as we play hard and give it our all, we will continue to grow." KEY MOMENTS The Blue Jays wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of play, as Mocksfield netted goal number one, and assisted on number two. Both teams split a pair of goals to close the period, Saint Joseph leading 3-1 after one. Becker's strongest quarter was undoubtedly the second, scoring three unassisted goals to break even with the Blue Jays, who benefitted from some more electric play from Mocksfield (two goals in the second). It was a 6-4 game at halftime. The third quarter proved to be the springboard that launched the Blue Jays to an eight-goal victory. Up only one, 6-5, a penalty left the Blue Jays down a man. It didn't matter, as Mocksfield found the back of the net off a great pass from freshman long-stick midfielder Brendan Cuddy Jaouen (Wenham, Mass.) for a man-down goal, swinging the momentum back in the home team's favor. Saint Joseph kept the pressure on throughout the fourth, putting the game away with six straight goals to start the period, four of them from Mocksfield. The Blue Jays ran the clock down late and sealed their first win in program history. NUMBER TO KNOW 24 – Mocksfield scored his nine goals on 24 shots. The Hawks took 25 shots as a team. GOALIE BREAKDOWN Saint Joseph – Freshman Trey McCann (Simsbury, Conn.) nearly went the distance for a second straight game, allowing six goals but making seven saves on 13 shots (1-1) in his second collegiate contest. Freshman goalie Sebastian Fusco (Berlin, Conn.) also made an appearance and had one save. Becker – Senior Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Texas) allowed 14 goals in a full 60 minutes of action. He also had 20 saves on 34 shots, doing all he could to stop the onslaught (0-1). UP NEXT The USJ men's lacrosse team will hit the road for the first time, taking on the Bulldogs of Dean College on Friday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m.
