The Dean Bulldogs (1-0) would outscore the Husson Eagles (0-4) 11-5 in a defensively dominant gameon a chilly Saturday afternoon. Despite the setback, the Eagles had their best showing of their young season. IN THE ACTION: The Bulldogs opened the scoring almost five minutes into the game with a goal from Christopher Wendt. They continued their run, pushing ahead 3-0, before the Eagles notched their first goal from Gunner McAllister. The Eagles would make a run of their own with goals from Jaden Wells and Roman Dennis to even up the score 3-3 to end the first quarter. Dean's Christian Billingsley started the scoring in the second quarter to take back the lead. Louis Piccolo continued the tallies with two goals for the Bulldogs giving the home team a 6-3 edge. The Eagles' McAllister would cut their lead to two with a goal late in the second, as the Bulldogs would take the 6-4 lead into the half. A defensive battle ensued in the third quarter as the first goal wouldn't come until 4:52 was left. Piccolo would register the only goal in the third, his fourth tally of the game, to give the Bulldogs a 7-4 advantage. Piccolo would continue his offensive prominence by notching a goal to start the fourth quarter. Minutes later, Greg Centeio would score his first of the game for the Bulldogs to bring the score to 9-4. Husson's Gabriel Bergeron responded with his first collegiate goal, before Piccolo would extend the home teams lead to five. Dean's Tyler Minor would score on a man-up opportunity to close out the game, as the Eagles would fall 11-5. HUSSON LEADERS: Bryan Wagg took the loss in goal, recording 23 saves while facing 51 shots. McAllister registered two goals and three ground balls. Jaden Wells chipped in one goal and one assist. Owen Richmond scooped up eight ground balls. DEAN LEADERS: Alex Govoni played all 60 minutes making 20 saves on 38 shots in the victory. Louis Piccolo scored six goals and dished out two assists. Tyler Minor recorded one goal, one assist, and five ground balls. Jameson Maillet scooped up five ground balls and caused two turnovers. TEAM STATS: The Eagles led in face-offs (14-3) and ground balls (34-28), as the Bulldogs held the advantage in man-up opportunities (3-of-7) and shots, 51-38. UP NEXT!
