The Keuka College Men's Lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit and defeat Houghton College 16-15 under the lights at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex on Monday night. Connor Cupp led Keuka College (3-3) with four goals and four assists. Mark Shattuck had a six-point game with three goals and three assists. Adding hat tricks for the Wolves were Kasey Gallina and Chris Bellanca. Keuka College 16 vs. Houghton College 15 The Wolves struck first, scoring 38 seconds into the game, but the Highlanders would net the next three goals for the lead. Chris Bellanca ended the run on the man-up, but Houghton scored two more to lead 5-2 after the first. The Highlanders pushed their lead out to 9-4 with three minutes left in the first half. Keuka College began their comeback as the Wolves netted two goals in the final 43 seconds of the half to cut the margin to three goals, 9-6, at the half. Keuka College once again scored fast as Mark Shattuck found the back of the net 20 seconds into the third. Houghton took advantage of a Keuka error to regain the three-goal lead, but the Wolves answered with tallies by Bellanca and Cupp to cut the lead to one. Houghton scored with 4:39 left in the third, making it 11-9. Starting at 3:15 of the third quarter, the Wolves closed the frame with five goals to tie Houghton and take the lead. A goal by Conner Cupp with seven seconds left capped the run with Keuka taking a 14-11 lead into the fourth quarter. Houghton College scored first, but Seth Spurgeon had the answer. The freshman won the ensuing faceoff and raced in on goal, scoring six seconds after Houghton to make it 15-12. The Wolves added an insurance goal by Kasey Gallina to make it 16-12 and held on. Houghton scored three goals, including one with 51 seconds left to cut the Wolf lead to one. Seth Spurgeon won the faceoff with Cody Nitzke picking up the groundball and the Wolves ran out the clock on a 16-15 victory.
