The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Lacrosse returned to Skyline Conference play on Thursday and picked up its fourth straight win with a 19-4 road triumph at Purchase. Senior Danny Kugler (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored five goals in the win, while classmate Tristan Earle (Millrift, Pa.) totaled a team-high seven points. Mount Saint Mary put the game away early on Thursday with a nine goal first quarter. After the two teams traded goals to open the scoring, the Knights ripped off a pair of four goal runs in the opening stanza to grab a 9=2 lead after 15 minutes. Earle scored four times in the first stanza and assisted on a pair of tallies. After Purchase scored with 6:21 left in the first period, the Knights scored 12 straight goals to open a 17-2 lead on a Trevor Cannella (Wantagh, N.Y.) marker with 6:14 left in the third period. The Panthers were held off the board until back-to-back goals to in the final 4:12 in the third period. Mount Saint Mary featured 10 different goals scorers in the game, including four players with at least two markers. Earle closed the night with a season-high seven points and has recorded at least two points in each of the team's last five games. He scored four times, assisted on three goals, picked up a groundball and caused a turnover. Kugler scored five times in the game on Thursday and ran his season total 40. Ryan Maraio (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Dylan De Meo (Franklin Square, N.Y.) each scored twice for the Knights with De Meo adding three assists. De Meo pushed his team lead in helpers to 31 and his team standard in points to 52. Senior Kenneth Gallagher (Northport, N.Y.) had an efficient night in face-offs, going 14-for-16 with a team-high five groundballs, with sophomore Marco Spagnuolo (Staten Island, N.Y.) winning five of the nine draws he took. James Farrell (East Brunswick, N.Y.) led the Mount with two caused turnovers in the game. Mount Saint Mary used a trio of goalies in the win, with Christopher Doerr (Pleasantville, N.Y.) picking up the win without making a save in 15 minutes of work. Sophomore Eli Laikin (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) made five stops in just under 38 minutes of action, while Alec Durkin (Mattituck, N.Y.) saw his second action of the season, playing the final 7:17. Matt Sayegh took the loss for Purchase with a 10 save effort. Mount Saint Mary controlled each team stat on Thursday, outshooting the Panthers 51-18 overall and 29-9 in shots on goal. Groundballs went to the Knights 24-13, with the Mount dominating face-offs 19-6. Mount Saint Mary finished the night an efficient 12-for-13 in clearing chances. At 7-4 overall on the season and a perfect 2-0 in Skyline Conference play, Mount Saint Mary returns home April 6 for a conference tilt with St. Joseph's-L.I. Face-off with the Golden Eagles is set for 7:00 p.m.
