ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount University men's lacrosse team hosted Catholic University on Wednesday afternoon, with the Cardinals getting the best of the Saints on a cold afternoon, 12-10. Sophomore Clark Akers' set a career high with a six-goal game to lead the team. The Saints struck first as Akers danced around his defender for an unassisted goal in the sixth minute of play. Just a minute later, the Cardinals started a four-goal run that carried into the second quarter. Senior Sean Friedman went unassisted in the second quarter with 11:00 left on the clock to put the Saints back to within two. With the help of Friedman, sophomore Jonah Mackiewicz found the back of the net with 6:12 left in the half. Down 5-3 at the break, the Saints looked to go on a run before the fourth. After a man up goal from freshman Riley Scales, that Saints' run started. Adding three goals in six minutes, Akers put the Saints up by one, with 58 seconds left in the third. With two seconds remaining on the clock, the Cardinals beat senior goalkeeper Grey Clarkson to make the game even headed into the fourth. The fourth quarter started with two Catholic goals, followed by an unassisted Mackiewicz goal to cut the deficit to just one. The Cardinals outscored the Saints in the fourth quarter 5-3, to take home the 12-10 victory. Clarkson played all 60 minutes for Marymount, as he recorded 17 saves. Clarkson now has 42 saves on the season, and 309 in his career as a Saint. The Marymount men's lacrosse team hits the road for their first away game of the year, as the head to St. Vincent College to face off against the Bearcats. Opening faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m
